It happens all the time. Seriously. You can treat with BATS, send the plants out clean as a whistle, and boom! They arrive with bugs. I speak from experience, as a seller. Most buyers really don't care, as they understand bugs happen, and they just treat the plants themselves.

If it is a mealy or two, and a scale or two, and not a huge infestation, I wouldn't make a fuss. Remember, some of these bugs may be building an immunity to pesticides we use, which may be why BATS is actually becoming more ineffective at the regular dose.

Okay, thanks aurorawa. The only other time it happened was from Cowboyflowerman and all the plants I received from him died :-(

Yeah. I feel your pain. It is worth mentioning to the seller (so we can inspect our inventory). But, unless it is a bad infestation, I would not sweat it. I buy from ebay sellers all the time, and every once in awhile, some sucky sucking bug will show up with my order. Never needed to make mention of it, though. Just spot treated the order, potted up, and treated with BATS. If they are cuttings, I spot treat, quarantine and wait until they root, continuing to spot treat as they show up. Once they have roots, I treat with BATS, wait 2-3 weeks, and if they look good, they can go in with the other hoyas.
