To dig or not to dig?...

This is my first year growing tulips and it's been such a thrill to see them bloom, after planting them last fall! I know that I should leave the deadheaded stalks after flowering, to give the bulbs time to store up energy (monty don's advice), but I have been receiving conflicting advice on whether to dig them out completely or leave the bulbs in the soil for the whole summer.

Considering the zone I am in and how deeply I planted them (about 6 inches), would you say it is wise to dig them out and store them till fall or just leave them lone? Thank you help:)!
