i live in zone 7 but several past years winters have seemed almost 6. im looking at planting some muscadines (zone 7-9) and want to create a microclimate for them. current idea is to use stone to build a mound/wall behind each as i have access to about 60T of bluestone.

what are other options? small water feature?

FWIW im not interested in greenhouses/plastic coverings etc.
