Thanks for your response. So it's not because it's not getting enough water then since the leaves are curled inward? I just put it outside to see if it will turn around, but I'll bring it back inside and put it in my kitchen where it won't get direct light, but some light then.

How often were you watering it?

And take off those rocks over the soil, put down a soft mulch instead such as shredded bark or small bark chips. Avocados don't like a rock mulch, but that's not what damaged the leaves.

I've only had it since last Friday when I received it and transplanted it in the pot. I have watered it twice since I thought maybe it wasn't getting enough water. I will definitely remove the rocks right now. I have some compost, can I put that on the top of the soil? Should I leave it outside so it can get some real sun to?

The compost would probably be fine. Where do you live? If the nights do not get colder than 38-40*F, than yes, I'd put it outside. Since it's been inside though, introduce it to the sun slowly. Put it in the shade for a few days first, then a few hours in the sun, back to the shade and so on, until after about a week or two, it's all the way into the sun.

And for what it's worth, it did look like not enough water to me, but it's best to first stick a long dowel like a wooden chopstick into the soil before watering to see if the soil is wet, damp, or dry, at the top and at the bottom of the pot.
