It was in some rocks and I took them out to repot them in potting soil that I mixed with sand. The roots were thin and white not too big.

If the plant was originally in water, take it out of the soil and place it in the water. It is to stressful to transfer a bamboo plant that was originally in water to soil. Make sure the water you use is filtered. Also, are the bottom of the plants stem mushy, or smell rotten?

No the bottoms are decent feeling. Okay I will transfer them back into their original state and watch the process thank you.

Could you please post a close up photo of the bottom of the plant. It may need to be cut of as once the stalk starts to turn yellow it won't turn green again. Also, could you please post a photo of the roots. Can you smell any rotting coming from the plant as well?

I don't smell rotting

Thanks for posting the photo. Just keep the plant in filtered water and see how it does. Change the water every week, and spray the plant with filtered water every now and then. The yellowing on the stalk is not too bad. If the yellowing of the stalk spreads or changes colour (e.g brown), you can smell rotting from the plant and the roots, the roots change colour (e.g black), or the yellow part of the stalk turn mushy post another post on here as it may need to be cut off. Just keep an eye on it. :)
