Pot bound mini roses

I do not have very much gardening experience, really just picked it up a few years back. I lucked up at Lowe's today and found 10 pots of mini roses for $1 each. They look sad but have some new buds and plenty of green still on them. The sales guy said they just are really pot bound and need to come out those small pots and into the ground. My question is.....If you guys were planting them would you cut them all the way back? Part of the way back? What???? I need advice. I bought them tonight and can't plant in the ground until Saturday. Should I remove them from the pots and loosen the roots put them in a big tub full of topsoil until then. I just have no clue and want them to live!!!!
