Tulip Lovers, A Feast for the Eyes

If only I had a huge estate, a huge amount of $$$, and a well-staffed grounds crew, this is what I'd do. :-) I made a trip about 30 miles south of Salt Lake to a place called Thanksgiving Point in Lehi, Utah. Every year they have a beautiful tulip festival. I want to share because this year was excellent!

These were almost as big as my outstretched hand!

Can't leave out the daffodils

Violas, Tulips, Euphorbia and Vinca

Italian garden where water flows down center. Lots of people there today!

Those are a lot of tulips! I've never heard of the place but obviously I'm a ways off here in PA :)

so any favorites?

I have to admit I like doubles even though the plant snob in me says I shouldn't.... But the color on those reds, wow!

A pretty fringed tulip
A caramel color I've never seen before

This rose garden is usually bare this time of year, but this year they planted beautiful pink peony flowering tulips here.

I had a nice day, and I hope you enjoyed these pictures, too!

I have relatives in western PA, and it's so pretty and green there. I'm sure there are public gardens all over that have pretty displays. I wish this one was closer to me so I could visit more often. But they really know how to do up the tulips!

It's funny how we seem to like what we can't have, because I like the doubles, too, especially the Peony flowering ones. Of course, that's one kind of tulip that doesn't come back very well for me .

I couldn't believe the size of the red ones. I've never seen tulips that big before. The caramel ones caught my eye just because it's a different color, but actually not the most beautiful, just different. Unfortunately, most of the perennials and bulbs aren't labeled. I'd like to know the names of some of them. It's amazing to see so many tulips in one place.

I think my response of an hour ago must have been lost in cyber space. This gorgeous display sent me off on a search which ended up at

, where every time I clicked on a garden display thumbnail more possiblilites opened up. There were some pictures of Jacqueline van der Kloet, tulip designer, combinations. Perfect occupation on a very windy Sunday.

Grand! I like the secret garden and stream pictures the best, as they seem more intimate and blend with the environment. Wide open masses of tulips border on the gaudy. Of course, I am not one who likes huge displays of annuals either.

mantis, I always like the water features in gardens and wish I had one. I also would LOVE to have a secret garden. I think it's beautiful and like to imagine it's my own little garden spot. ...No easy feat considering all the other people crowded in there with me, lol.
