What type of pad do I need to use this on my wood deck?

I would like to use this on a raised deck made of wolmanized wood. What kind o pad would i need to protect the deck? Would a brick pad work? Would a metal plate provide enough protection? Do you have any other suggestions? Thank you for your help. John Malone
