Since it does not look like you can plant flowers, I would put out some big potted flowers to add some color to the corner, left of the window.

How big is this area? Could you construct a wall about 2-3 feet high and make a small enclosed courtyard?

Afraid that would cut the light into the bedroom which are the window side.

I wouldn't think you would want an area for gathering outside a bedroom. So sounds like planters are the best idea to me.

The transition between the concrete and your house seems like to would benefit from some "softening." Plants would help a lot here (as foundation plantings usually do). Maybe a low rectangle planter (or two) below the window with a mix of small evergreen boxwood and perennials), a small tree in a large planter in the corner. You could add some planters with herbs, a bird bath, some planters filled with pollinator-friendly plants (help those bees and butterflies!) Make it a welcoming, happy sight for you as you come and go to your house.

I'd add a very short ( 12" ) brick retaining wall all around the edge, fill it in and plant the entire thing. Use same brick as on the house for the edge. Far better than a collection of pots appearing as clutter on a slab.

Depends on how much effort you want to make... Could stencil a cool pattern on it to make it look like and outdoor rug...then put bright planters on it in clusters, with a cute chair... Or could cover it with thin stones to look more like a traditional walkway/patio

Never been a fan of fake anything, but some of this turf looks pretty good. Maybe some creative faux landscaping design? Don't know if that would work, but consider it among your list of options.

BTW, if you are thinking about building a wall around it and filling with soil to create a large planter box, drainage away from the house will be an issue.

I have to ask.....why is jackhammering and removing the concrete not an option? It would clearly be the best long term solution.

Put a big trough planter along the front edge. Plant some tall ornamental grass, some boxwood Behind the planter you can put a small cafe table and a couple chairs.

Treat it like a front porch. Paint it a more pleasing color, add a loveseat and chairs and a couple tables and plants. Maybe a birdbath.
