Wood vs. Wood-grain tile for entire main floor?

We are selecting flooring for our townhouse and need a decision in less than two days. We're totally stuck between two types of flooring for our main level, which includes a kitchen open to a dining/family "great room", plus a bathroom and bedroom, the latter which will be carpeted.

We really love the look of the Daltile wood-grain tile, which looks like light reclaimed wood and gives it an airy, modern yet also somehow rustic look. We also know it will be durable, and we can't find a light real wood that looks nearly as good.

While we love the look, we are a little worried about certain things:

1) Tile is just not commonly used in living/dining rooms. We can see some reasons why - colder on the feet (though we live in a warm NorCal climate and it'll be on an upper floor) - harder surface on your feet and echoes more.

2) Resale? What if others don't like this? Whereas wood is classic.

3) Cleaning and sealing grout over ~650 sq ft could be a lot of work or expensive depending on DIY/hire.

The only other flooring we liked was a medium grayish wood, which would darken the place but still look pretty good. We know it would be more comfortable, probably lower maintenance, and cheaper, too. But it just doesn't have that sex appeal that we love about the tile. The wood is like a Mercedes S-class - classic, comfortable, can't go wrong - but the wood-look tile to us is like a Ferrari - maybe less comfortable to live with and more work to maintain, but takes the appearance to another level.

We are extremely torn, and friends/family/industry people have been pretty split. Any advice before we flip a coin?
