I'm not sure at this age. I remove the tap roots on some plants, but never this soon.

It will be very interesting to see if a seedling this young will form new roots in time. I would try to keep the media moist.

I cut the main tap root on a dozen plants at 3 weeks old (looked just like yours) I just wonted to see if it would promote fatter feeder roots ... I keep them real wet ... they didn't seem to mind they at all good luck ..... just noticed the bush turkey has depotted some but still going strong just shows how tuff they are

I've seen worse work out. It depends. I've had seedlings with root rot shorter than this survive after losing their root entire system.

Along with what the others have said, make sure it's a clean cut on the bottom. In my limited experience a messy cut (not flat) is less likely to regrow roots.

Make sure it's in moist soil and just leave it and be sure it gets a some light. They'll still make leaves even if they don't have roots.

Ultimately, time will tell. Adeniums are freakishly tough when it comes to physical abuse.

The seedling seem to be pulling through. Its growth slowed down but is getting going again.

The one on the right is for comparison - they germinating from the same batch.

Well Steffen, it's looking good from my armchair anyway! Apart from the slight difference in caudex thickness it's identical to its sibling, it's very promising for sure.
