I could see without a magnifying glass that they definitely had a body and legs. They could be some other sort of bug, but I'm no expert. They almost looked like small spiders because of their long legs in comparison to their bodies, but I'm fairly certain they're not spiders.

Not sure where in the world you are, but in my part of the world about the only mite that does damage to plants is the size of this period.

Any oil is good. Just don't use it on buds. Don't spray the plant in full sun or it will burn the plant.

I live near the gulf coast of the U.S., maybe it's a local thing? They're definitely bigger than a period (unless my phone screen is shrinking them), they were about a millimeter maybe? Pretty small but visible. I couldn't tell if they were damaging the plant, but I live with my mother who tells me that she's had trouble with bugs eating plants she's put there.
