Your plant could be prone to producing suckers ... and sometimes, it's one or the other, suckers or blooms.

I would try and keep the plants single-crown (I.e. no suckers) as much as possible ... and see how that goes.

I have a few plants that I would keep restarting (from suckers) until I got one to stay single-crowned.

I second Aegis. Try to keep up with desuckering - and if it won't set buds for a couple of months... compost the lazy bum. Knock the pot against the counter now - and tell it - you better!

You can't compare plants to each other any more than you can compare your children. This may be a different variety than your other violets and it is certainly individually different. Even violets of the same variety can and do react differently to their environment. If it does not flower for you, give it to a friend. It just may need different growing conditions. I believe Irina stated on an old post that she had a violet that did not grow well for her where she lives. She send it to a friend in Florida and it blooms like crazy.

Even worse - I gave it to friend in my group - it bloomed its head off - and then it croaked.

Very interesting. Good ideas. I am not ready to give up on this violet yet. I think I will take off the suckers and try starting them, as well as, move this plant to a different room. Maybe it is the sunlight it is getting. It is in a east window for morning sun. Maybe I will try west.
