My hydrangeas lost all their new growth in that last freeze, and now they are sprouting from the base - again. No flowers for the fourth time in 5 years. Your plants may have been more or less protected than mine, so it's hard to generalize, but I think that you should have seen at least bud swell by this point. Take a closer look at the plants.

I have to add that this all refers to H.macrophylla; my plants of H. arborscens and paniculata are just fine, and my nieghbor's Oak Leaf hydrangea is going like gangbusters.

I haven't had mine bloom in at least 8 years. I have no idea what I'm supposed to do. I love hydrangeas but I'm tired of just getting green leaves every year from mine.

I feel the same way; I'm not going to dig them up, but then they are not a centerpiece of the garden. I'm going to plant another Annabelle next to them, so I'll have flowers no matter when the last freeze comes through.
