Narrow, long living/TV room w/ steep sloped ceiling

Room empty: 11 ft wide by 21 ft long. Steep sloped ceiling: at lowest 6'7 ft, highest 11 ft

Old furniture too bulky and dark. Large mirror makes room feel like dance hall.

We put TV and entertainment unit in front of fireplace. Always looking at short side of room. Feels confining.

View from end of the room thru to dining room and french doors. Danish door did help to open room. Dry walled and insulated ceiling.

Long and narrow. Always traffic going thru center of room. Does not feel cozy. What kind of furniture and arrangement would you recommend. Any help and ideas VERY appreciated.

I think there is way too much going on in this room. I'd lose the big furniture and the bookcase and put the TV on the end wall where you now have the art. then put that very cool piece of art over the fireplace where it belongs.

Put a not-too-long sofa perpendicular to the fireplace (its back to the dining room) and two swivel chairs across from it with a coffee table between them and a rug to define the space.

Afraid you lost me at dry walling the ceiling - that was the one piece of architectural interest you had going (but I did not have to pay your heating or cooling bills) - forgive me for starting this way.

I think you have done remarkably good things for the room. The limitations of 11' are just as you have found . . you might lose the mirror - you aren't a fan, it doesn't advance your style at all .. and then you could do an interesting gallery wall which would draw the eye upward ..

You do have really large furniture pieces .. a large sectional and a circular two person chair .. it fits here .. .so why not? That is the only other thing (although I have a big guy in my house and he is really only comfortable in really large furniture pieces so I can see a purpose there) .. if you had two 6' loveseats with sofa table / desks behind them, facing each other .. it might feel a bit more cozy as a sitting area, but . you still need a walkway through the room to one side and to deal with the television .. .

You might replace the fan with a modern pendant hung around 8'6" . . add a rug for the sofa pit to bring lightness to the floor there ..

Thank you! Appreciate it. Yes, we live in hot place and were baking in there. Much cooler now. I will measure out some love seats and see how it is.

I agree with Susan2494, that bookcase is at an odd place, or is it hiding a doorway, open closet, basement entrance?
I would put the TV on the wall opposite to dining, buy a more compact seating sofa for three, facing Tv, or if not possible now just leave it where it is and instead move that big comfy seating : 0 elsewhere

Perhaps you could draw up a rough floorplan so that we could better understand the space and how it relates to the rest of the house.

Thank you all! Yes, the little bookcase creates a faux hall, otherwise you can see directly from the front door into the master bedroom. Thank you Susan for the drawing-I like the color palette too! I've also considered turning the room on an angle, facing toward the french doors. If I could get a low TV console and put in the corner (where the sectional sticks out by the lamp), I could the TV on the corner and a small sofa where the round one is now, then add a comfy chair by the bookcase and another by the fireplace. Would probably require some custom cabinetry but could be worth to get the room functioning properly. It is a design challenge.
