Zilker Smart Water Device - water conservation

Hi, I'm a container gardener who uses digital timers (Orbit)
to do drip irrigation to my plants. I
also back Kickstarter projects and one came up that seemed like it might be of
interest to others in the forum since it helps with water conservation:

Zilker Water Timer

Its like a regular timer but you control it with your phone
(like the Nest). It also talks to a
weather database so it can tell when it's been raining or hotter than normal so
it automatically adjusts the watering.
And you can control the amount it waters in gallons (or inches). It doesn't ship unless the project reaches it's goal so that's why I'm posting
it - I want the project to succeed so I get the valve I ordered. Check it out. Thanks!

There are already some excellent irrigation timers with even more features than those you listed available. Just one example from Home Depot: Blossom

Blossom is for a sprinkler system, which i don't have. I use a timer hooked up to my regular hose. Like this one: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Orbit-2-Outlet-Hose-Faucet-Timer-56544/205585024 I find it confusing to set up and they break constantly.
