Alright, so I see two things growing on this plant. i am not sure which you are referring to, but I will do my best to identify both. The green growing thing on the right would be a root growing out of the base of the plant.

The sort of reddish growth on the left I am not sure about but it kind of looks like a the beginning of a flower spike. I see though that you have cut the top off the previous flower spike, so theoretically, the new flower spike should grow stacked on the old spike.

Remember though, I am only an amateur at this, so don't totally rely on my word!

That root coming out does look very healthy though.

Yes the thing on the left is what I'm asking about. I know the green piece on the right is a new root. The piece I'm asking about looks like it turned back down on itself.

Yeah, that is what I thought. I am sorry in that I really don't know what that is! My guess is that you should just wait a bit and see what happens. If it is growing from the plant, chances are it won't hurt the plant.

It definitely is a flower spike but has not grown out straight.... And sort of doubled up on itself. I have had plants do this to me. They are very brittle and snap very easily if you try to straitened it. I would let it grow and hope it sorts itself out or gently train it after it grows out quite alot more.

Sorry straighten it.... I was just correcting the spelling error. Don't try to do anything for now. Hopefully it will sort itself out.

The end of it is tucked into the plant. I can't straighten it. If I try to pull it up it'll snap in half. I wonder if it'll figure out it'd going the wring way and come back up. I thought it must be a spike. So sad this happened. I've been waiting so long for another spike yo grow.

I think you should just leave it as is... I am sure it will sort itself out; straightening will cause damage. I think waiting is your only solution for now.

I currently have a mini phal doing exactly the same thing. I've just removed a n out of bloom spike and while repotting I tried to use a sharp knife to see if I could free the spike, no luck! I sprayed the tiny cuts I made on the plant with peroxide. I hope my efforts won't damage the plant. This is the first time I've ever seen this happen. Strange coincidence that I saw this post. L.A., is your plant possibly one of the mini phals?

No its a regular size plant. I did try to pull it up and ended up cracking it off. I don't know if it'll grow another one. I've had that plant for years waiting.
