Divided In March

I should have divided last August. My only Bearded Iris seemed to be losing vigor. But, I just didn't get it done.

We had a nice warm March and I was able to catch up on many garden chores. As soon as I lifted "Double Your Fun" out of my raised bed, it divided itself into about 10 small pieces. I replanted the best piece back into its original bed and spread five others in less desirable spots wherever I could find space.

One of those little pieces decided to break the rules and will bloom next week. Double Your Fun has rebloomed 4 time in one season. It continues to surprise me.

Isn't it nice to have those surprises? I love a good reblooming iris. I have several reblooming iris, but only a few are really dependable rebloomers.

What a vigorous Iris this must be, or else it loves whatever you are giving it. When I divide I don't expect to see them flower until the next year or even the year after.
