The tiles are beautiful, I love that color. I would paint the walls in cream, which it looks like they may already be. If you want something different, maybe the soft grey in the artwork (behind the tub) might work. The artwork seems to go really well. Good luck! Its really not hideous!

Something like this perhaps. I realize the tiles aren't very modern but I do like them. Retro is in these days so you could have some fun and decorate in that style.

I would definitely keep the tiles. I had a bathroom similar to this once. Paint color and accessories can really take the room from drab to fab:-)

I LOVE that greeny teal color! I'd definitely keep it too and decorate around it.

I love the light cream idea! I also think that a light brown would look good. The green tiles actually aren't that hideous, in my opinion!

I love that tile! I'd try a putty color... Not as warm as cream but it would complement that tile well.

Hate to disappoint everyone, but the tiles really are green. See Benjamin Moore color swatch online HC-129 Southfield Green. If only it were teal, aqua or turquoise...I can deal with that. But changing tiles is not in my budget and I've had the almond white for the last 7 years. Time for a change including prints and accessories. Want a spa feel so I need to tone down the green. Perhaps I should start with new prints and nab a color from there.

Bathtub re-finishers can spray an epoxy or enamel finish on to change the tile color if you really hate the color.

I looked that colour up on the charts and they indicated that Southfield Green goes well with these colour.

A light sea blue would look nice. You could use a dark gray as your accent.

I have this exact color tile in my bathroom. We will redo the bathroom at some point, but, in the meantime, it has worked well to pair the turqoise-y-green tile with a rich sand color (rugs, shower curtain), fluffy white towels, off-white walls, and natural woven baskets. The pairing seems natural.

Beautiful tile. I'd go with a taupe or a deep taupe-gray for the walls, and a warm white for trim.

Oneofeleven is on the right track. Those are great color palettes and very in style right now, so it should be fairly easy to find accessories to go with the green tiles. I think either a chocolatey brown or medium to charcoal grey would look great. (The brown may make the room feel a bit "treesy"). I would probably find a shower curtain you like first, you can always customize paint to coordinate with the tile and curtain. Add some new towels and a few new accessories and call it a day. In this case simpler is definitely better IMHO.

You could add a small row of mosaics to draw the eye away from the tile and then paint a softer teal color on the walls. Here is what I just installed.

We have that color in the shower curtain in our basement along with chocolate brown and white. We painted the walls the chocolate brown color and I have that teal colored towels hanging and I get so many compliments on the colors in the bathroom. I was skeptical when my husband came home with that color because it is so dark but I love it!!

I was thinking. I have two types of light in my bathroom (see pics above): incandescent and fluorescent (in the tray ceiling ledge above the tub). The tiles can look quite green under the warmer colored lighting and more blue in the tub area with the cooler lighting. (This does not show up in the pics, btw.)

Perhaps you could experiement with different types of bulbs in your bathroom to lessen the green tone (in addition to redecorating, of course). There are so many new bulb options out there. A trip to either a lighting store or even a big-box home improvement store might be a start to a fun experiment.

I like kegofron's idea of adding mosaic to add some interest to it but you could add some darker elements as well or some mirrors or something with sparkle. You could paint it a clean fresh white to get that spa feel you are after, just ignore the blue and use white everything, towels, accessories, etc. Adding some dark contrast might be stylish as well. The HC-129 Southfield Green looks quite the same (at least on my screen) as many of the turquoise and mint pictures from the searches I suggested before.

First you need to embrace the tile, otherwise remodeling would be useless if you still find the tile hideous. If you can't live with the tile, save your money now for a total makeover later.

Pink walls with black and white accents would look cool and retro.

A really nice wallpaper suitable for a bathroom of course........something with a geometric or botanical design maybe

I might try capitalizing on the colour of the tiles if you can't change them out. Paint the walls in the same shade, but lighter. Add towels in the same shade, but deeper. Keep the pictures that you have.

I have the same tile like your color and another bath in a powder blue. Professional designers just picked beautiful papers to go with the tile. As long as you update the cabinet, maybe toilet or sink you do not need to replace the tile. The paper we chose for the tile color you have is a large floral with a fuschia pink flower with the green in it ...meant for a girls room. Just paint or paper as suggested above. You will be amazed at the difference. It will not look dated. You will not regret any of the suggestions.

Still working on the color scheme. Reprinting the entire house after damage from Hurricane Sandy using grays and golden colors. Trying to find a combination that will go with Benjamin Moore golden tan 2152-40 that I've chosen for the hall leading to the bathroom. There so many factors in making this decision...

Have you added any accents that incorporate the green? I'll trade you the green for my pink. I decided to work with the pink instead of against it and now it's fairly pleasant. Do you have a shower curtain? Maybe first find a curtain that you like and then decide on a paint. My inspiration was a rug. From there I painted a brighter white ( after removing some heinous wallpaper) and added art and a window shade. The pink tile is an afterthought.

Black and bright white would be great, like the photo above.

Here's an example. I was referring to the pic above by Mishikins. There are other routes to take if you're not into retro or geometric. I found tons of b&w curtains that would redo a bathroom for.

Our first house had tiles exactly like that. We painted the walls a parchment colour, got vintage seashell pictures that picked up on the parchment and green (framed in oak), and bought a wooden vanity. It looked retro, but warm retro rather than edgy retro.
