Summertime Blues

last modified: 10 years ago

Hard for we Floridians to believe that summer actually doesn't start until late June. It's already getting almost too hot for me. I slept in this morning, usually get up at 6 and get out into the garden by 7. Today I didn't get out there until 10 and the sun was already scorching down on me. I hate summer. With my lupus, I'm trapped inside in the summer just like northerners are trapped inside in the winter. Still, I've gotten a lot done -- not as much as I wanted, but a lot. I've got a bit more to go, but May isn't all that bad and I think I can get it done before it gets REALLY hot in June!

I'm lucky, I guess. Here in Gainesville, I at least get some spring weather. Down in Z10 there were only two seasons: fall and summer. No spring or winter at all. I really do enjoy the change of seasons up here.

Magnolias are blooming and birds are waking me up and putting me to bed at night singing. What more can you ask for?
