A lot depends upon how and how much you plan to use it. I bought the Sargent Steam, partly because I wanted the steam pressure iron accessory, and partly because I got obsessed with it. The steam is vapor that is almost dry; the pressure it shoots out with is the key. Compared to the steam I see on the shopping channels when they occasionally demonstrate a steamer, I have a Mack Truck, and they have a Toyota Tacoma: both good, but not in the same class.

Anything that is greasy or sticky cleans up very well. I don't use the brushes and accessories that fit on the nozzle; I prefer to use the steam wand in one hand and a tool in the other.

I have an old Vapor Clean TR5 (I think) which I bought used on eBay. Here is a good Q&A article on steamers, designed to sell a particular brand, but still helpful for people shopping around:

Steam cleaners

Interesting article, however I suggest checking the websites for the specs on any machine in consideration. The information the article gives about the Sargent Steam is incorrect. For one thing, it has a stainless steel tank.
