You could have them refinished with a light gray stain but I will warn you probably cheaper to replace the floors. I would just leave them and get some good lighting and a nice big light rug

You should consult a really good wood refinisher. They will pull a register and look at the floors to confirm they are thick enough to refinish. Some of these floors are produced as a engineered floor and the top wood layer is very thin. This makes these floors hard to sand down, and your floor definitely looks like it will need sanding before staining. Then to lighten it, they will need to use a wash, not an actual stain. So you won't be able to get a light maple color or something like that. But you can get a painted/washed look. But like Patricia said, this can be a bit costly.

HI -- The color of the floors has nothing to do with how light or dark a room is ----- it has more to do with your lighting . Those floors can look amazing if worth re-finishing . Price out the cost against putting in new flooring . Price out engineered and cork etc. to get the look you want and can afford .

Stain it black and bump up your lighting, paint and fabrics to lighten the room.

I agree with lefty47. The color of the floor has nothing to do with light relativity. Invest in some good lighting and paint colors if lightening your room is your main issue. If you keep the walls across from the window light in color you will have better success. If you post a picture of the entire room than I can give you some more suggestions to lighten up the room. I think the others who have posted regarding refinishing the floor have given some good advice.
