Bummer. I've used Azamax/Azatrol in the past to control mites, but can be cost prohibitive. Some people sell sample sizes on eBay that are more economical. Maybe Monica can chime in on Forbid, a Bayer product that's supposed to be a good miticide. Those things are a complete nightmare to get rid of IMO, isolate and dunk your pretty bella until you decide what to use.

Yeah, not looking forward to the battle ahead. Everything affected has been dunked, will do this daily until I pick something up.

Might wanna vacuum & spray where the plants were too if you haven't already. Then burn your vacuum and your clothes. ;)
My awesome tree rhodie has spider mites and I won't go anywhere near it this time of year til I figure out how to treat without poisoning the neighborhood and/or spending a billion dollars on Azatrol.

Forbid is an excellent product and safe on plants as it can be used on fruit and vegetables. It is very expensive and for professional use but there are third party sellers on Amazon and maybe even on eBay. I just did a foliar spray of the Bayer 3 in 1 as I thought I saw what may have been some webbing.

You may want to start with that so you're not breaking the bank.

Ok, might try the 3 in one. I found 4 oz bottles of Azamax for $25, that will be the next step, or Forbid, depending.

water. It's cheap. A hard jet spray on the undersides of the leaves a couple of times a week until they are gone (10 days). This breaks up their breeding cycle and of course knocks them off the plant. If spider mites continue to be a problem use the jet spray on them once a week for control.

This is what I used to use on roses too.

Is azamax better applied as a soil drench, or foliar spray? Does the same go with the forbid? Just found them on another plant, in my living room with the majority of my Hoyas. I am hosing them all down, but not taking any chances.

Operation spray everything like crazy until payday has been successful so far. Still, going to pick up some Bayer 3 in 1 on payday. I have a few carnivorous plants, and one of them, a Cape sundew, has been getting mobbed by aphids. Drowning the plant combined with rubbing alcohol on a paint brush has been pretty effective, and there is a tiny part of me that appreciates the irony of the matter, but nope.

After doing some digging, seems like the Bayer 3-in-1 is safe for most if not all of my plants and should eliminate the little monsters nicely. I will save Forbid and Azamax as a last resort, since mites can become resistant if you aren't careful/lucky, may as well not start with the biggest guns.

Funny how such a mellow, peaceful pursuit like horticulture can turn one into an insecticidal maniac.

Yeah, it is crazy. I barely care about my veggie garden and bugs (hey, I can share a bit), but when it comes to my Hoya... no way.
