My friend had the same type of setup. He added a tv mount that extended out and turned so you could pull the tv out when you wanted to watch. I'm assuming all the cable and outlets are in the cabinet?

But, I had to make mention the way light and shadow play on this room. Very interesting. Very nice. You might want to keep this in consideration when looking at window coverings!!

What is on the other side to the left of the fireplace? There should be drywall behind the media center, but it is most likely not finished with plaster and paint. You could definitely put a bench there, a built in bar, or a reading nook with shelves and a cozy chair.

Yelp, looks like a tear out. Keep,in mind there will be no carpet under the build in.

Can you think of another use for this area? I see taking out the middle section and adding a countertop to create a great bar/serving area. Does your TV need to be in this space.

First off, where are you moving the tv? Is it going to be mounted above the fireplace to the left? And what is on the other side of the fireplace? Think about putting some simple shelving in there instead if you have a lot of things like books or knick-knacks to display. A bench might look okay, but you may regret losing the storage space in the future unless you already have a lot of it. The Joni Koenig Interiors pic is kind of nice since it combines both. Just make sure the bench idea is inviting and gives people a reason to want to sit there. If not, it'll just become wasted space, or as one of my past professors once said in architecture school, "A place where elephants go to die!" Good luck!

we plan on mounting the TV on the big wall to the right in this picture since there is a lot of sunlight that comes in , therefore mounting it about the Fireplace will give a lot of glare on the screen .

I really like the idea of putting some seating instead of that built in .
