Indoor Palm Tree Help

Hello,

I purchased a Palm Tree about two months ago (pictures below) and I have noticed that it is starting to turn brown on the ends of the leaves and have also noticed brown spots as well as the leaves drooping/wilting. The palm tree is 7 feet tall and was purchased from a large palm tree supplier who potted it for me. From what I have found out online, it's either due to under-watering, over watering, or humidity level. With it getting warmer outside I do have the AC on, however the house never gets below 70 degrees. I water it twice a week, a little more than a gallon each time out of the tap. The palm gets sunshine several hours a day where it's currently placed at.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated so I can save this tree before it's too late! Also, what type of palm tree is this?

It's a Phoenix roebellenii, Pygmy Date Palm. They're not the best indoor palm. If it's been recently potted it might be adjusting to the change. Did it go from the ground into that pot, or from another pot?

It went from the ground to a plastic pot/container that they used for transport, then put in the pot it's in now.

Being taken out of the ground is usually a lot more traumatic for a plant than from a pot. You might need to go back to the supplier and tell them about the issue. Did they do the last repotting, or did you? An important thing with watering is that the water drains away reasonably fast, a fast draining soil. Then you water it to keep it moist, whatever frequency of watering that takes.

Sometimes you'll see these plants in shopping malls doing quite well. But they're hired by the mall, not bought. The hire companys only leave the plants there a limited time and then take them back to allow time to recuperate in more ideal conditions. The plants are replaced so you never really notice that they've been changed over, giving the illusion that they're happy in the mall conditions.
