Advice on repotted Tamukeyama

last modified: 10 years ago

I realize now that what I did was not what I was supposed to do (until the tree is dormant). This weekend I bought a lovely tamukeyama and repotted it. I was moving it from the nursery container and switching the type of soil, so I used a hose and sprayed out all the old dirt. I didn't prune any roots but I did "disturb" the root ball as I pulled around sprayed it. I'd say I was working with it 10 minutes or so and it was wet the whole time. This tree is in full leaf. Of course afterward I saw that this was a bad idea. My question is: Can I do anything to minimize the damage? I have a patio umbrella providing shade. The soil is the gritty mix and it's watered well.

My zone is 6b in Western North Carolina.
