Have you visited any local nurseries/garden centers to see what's on offer? What are you looking for........sizes, evergreen (or not), flowering (or not), fall color???? So many options to choose from it makes it a little difficult just to throw out suggestion unless you can narrow things down a bit more.

just start with rule one ... foundation plants are planted to hide the foundation ... NOT ON THE FOUNDATION...

do as gal suggested ... hit the stores.. and buy a few things... or at least write down the names .. latin preferred .. and then google them up.. use the IMAGES side of google.. and plant them appropriately ...

e.g. ..link below ... though i dont know if you can do that plant in GA ... as you can see ... it has growth potential ... that means that it should be planted 5 to 6 feet from the house... if you want it to look like those ...

there are some tricks to working in clay ... see second link ... if you have that famous GA clay ...

The bed is much too shallow, back to front, and plants will be too close to the house. It might work for small perennials, but not for shrubs. Most shrubs should be plant 4 feet from the house so that when they are mature, they are still not touching the house.

is the hosue wood or siding.. will you need to paint?

increase bed to 4 to 6 feet .. and plant 3 feet out .. at a min ...

if you insist on that size bed.. buy some trellises ... and grow vines up the side of the wall ...

have miss dig mark the gas service.. if you dont know where the line runs.. in case of deep digging .. i hate when a gas pipe is ruptured ...

Siding ! No paint required - What about perennials, Is that an option ? Do I need to make bed wider ?

Could you post a picture of the whole yard right there? I think the bed, as it is, is too narrow to grow anything without it looking kind of silly. If we can see the overall yard, you and we could see how much wider a bed you have room for.
