SUPER EXCITED!

Ok, sad news first...my shipment with lockii, lobbii, praetorii and lasiantha has been delayed (thanks, USPS >: ( )

The happy news? I'm going to be the proud owner of a certain hoya I have been eyeballing/lusting over for awhile now...hoya undulata!

Here are pics of what it looks like, and some info (photo credit to ahhoya):

Info:

http://novataxa.blogspot.com/2015/06/hoya-undulata.html?m=1

When it arrives, along with a few others, I will take pics!

A side note, I believe EPC 856 (sp. Sarawak) to be hoya undulata, but since Jakk does not have it anymore (it didn't survive last winter for him), neither of us can confirm.

Oh, super pretty leaves and flowers, nice score.

There both the same.I bought one from iyares back in March off ebay and came in 4 days in great shape, but it was totally dead in one week!(all of the leaves turned yellow then brown)The stems are thick and fleshly like h. mitrata.Either it got too cold in transit, although it was not too cold when i ordered it,or it is one extremely difficult hoya to grow and doesn't like being in transit.Hope yours pulls through!if I every try it again it will be in S.H.

I plan to grow it semi-hydro in lower light, in a humidity dome. Apparently, this species grows in 80% humidity and 50% shade.

That is a gorgeous Hoya. Good luck!!

Jimmy, did iyaris resended you another plant or you ask for refund? The reason i ask is been considering buying off his ebay auction but price is holding me back.

Last summer when i ordered it it was dead on arrival.Held up in customs and it got cooked...9 days in transit I think. He gave me a refund minus shipping after i sent him some pics and bitched quite a bit.I didn't bother this time because the plant the 2nd time looked green and awesome when i got it in just 4 days, but it was dead 7 days later!...may try it one more time!

So, this is another hoya I am super excited to recieve on the same order...

    Hoya cv. Candy:

Photo credit to Surisa Somadee and a thank you to Maxne at AHHoya, to help me find a pic of it:

I don't know the parentage yet, but Maxne is helping me track that info down, as well!

I absolutely LOVE Google translate. Hoya undulata will be simple for me to grow! After translating many Russian and Polish sites, I think I have a plan (if the plant does not suffer during transit):

*semi-hydro in LECA (got it soaking now, in preparation)

*oddly, all sources say abundant, bright, but indirect light

*frequent mistings are needed, unless you want to grow in humidity tank

*the most important note regarding care seems to be heat. This one does not like cold or drafty conditions! It likes warmth, care seems to be in line with darwinii, which makes sense! I have an excellent location for it!

Wow, I love the shape of the leaves as well as the splotches. Would live to know the parentage. Congrats and I can't wait to see more pics when you get it. :-)

Super Wow, love love the whole looks in that one. Mind sharing where you are getting it aurorawa? I still have some Mother's Day present from my son, he put $500 in my paypal acct. to spend. Although, already spend 300 to epiphytica order. Been looking at iyares auction but $89 + shipping im hesitant to jump asap.

Jimmy, i bought lockii from iyares last year, died in a week he replaced it and died that one too. I'm hoping my new purchase (hoya multiflora variegated) from him thrive.

Monica, the splotched leaf plant- the parents are the same- it is not a cultivar, it is a newly discovered species, Hoya undulata. It's flowers are at the start of this thread.

The other flower pic is of hoya cv. Candy, and we are still working on an ID. I know it is an eriostemma.

Sweetheart, I won't give out the name of this nursery, as it is his first time exporting to the US (he exports all the time to other places around the world, but the US is new territory to him). I am not telling, not because I think he is a bad seller, or inexperienced! I am just protecting him for now, from potential US buyers who may not be so sympathetic to his lack of knowledge on US Customs procedures, which, if we are honest, could use improvement.

Once he and I have done a bit more business, and he feels comfortable with the procedures (poor man, he wanted to ship mine with the potting media on the roots...understandable that USDA wants bare-root...but he pots in a coir/hydroton/tree fern mix, so no soil), I will direct others to him. I really want him to feel welcome to shipping to the States, without the fear of ending up (unjustifiably) on someone's rant list. I would rather risk losing a few plants (which he will gladly replace) because Customs destroyed the package due to something trivial, such as a misplaced declaration (which, for the US, should be on the box, next to the address label, but some countries are okay with this form being inside the box) or a wrongly filled out form, than having someone else, who may not be as understanding, have theses issues, and ruin his business in the US.

I know no one here would do that, but there are people out there, hell-bent on making everyone around them miserable.

A HUGE plus?...he sends you pics of each plant he has picked out for you...you don't like his choice, he offers a few alternatives!
