I have EPC 153. It is one of my prettiest ones and it grows rather quickly. I find that nearly all of the pottsiis are easy to grow; the drawback being they are stingy with peduncles/blooms. And that is where Chiang Mai comes in. This one is not shy with peduncles, pushes them out early and often, and blooms early. That is the appeal.

Thanks for your comment, aurorawa! Do you think EPC-153 and Chiang Mai are different enough to justify owning both (for a space-challenged)? I can't find a picture of the flower of EPC-153. Do you know what color the flowers are?

Jakk says the flower corollas off-white (yellowish), the corona is white, and the center is a pink-orange. Mine grows steadily, but has yet to bloom.

I can justify owning both:

*Chiang Mai will be your space hog because of the leaf size, they are thick and can get quite large. Mine looks gorgeous in a hanging pot (I wrap the growth around and up the pot, to conserve space).

*EPC 153 has small leaves (no more than 2.5 inches) and is not succulent. Does well wrapped on a trellis.

*Both have leaves that will blush in high light; EPC 153 gets a nice deep burgundy.

*Both grow quite steadily, EPC 153 grows quicker, but Chiang Mai blooms earlier

This might sound contraindicative, but I have found that the taller the U hoop trellis, the LESS space taken up. When you constantly have to wrap around a short trellis, things get wide in the middle. Allowing the plant to grow up more reduces the girth. Yes, you lose vertical space, but if you have the "perfect" corner (one that has a West or South facing window opposite to it), you may not need supplimental lighting, which saves space.
