We have tried to grow grass in our back yard a total of 6 times and it just wont grow. We have a ton of grass in our front yard, our neighbors all around us have grass in their backyard but nothing seems to be working in this specific area. We have put sod down and tried growing grass with the seed mix from home depot. Our landscaping guy said it is because we have a palm tree in the middle of the area we are trying to grow grass and that will suck all the water up and the grass wont grow. As we have a palm tree in the front yard that is full of grass, I am really struggling with this answer. We also have a pool in the area we are wanting to grow grass and I suspect at one point the pool was emptied into this dirt/grass area and the pool chemicals did something to the dirt. We can not even grow weeds in this area so I am convinced something is wrong with the dirt. Anyone know of a place where I can get my dirt tested to see if that is my issue? Or is there something I can put in/on the dirt to help promote grass growth?
