Help with an ID please...

I've had this hoya for a couple of years and it did have a label at one time but being outside in FL for most of the time the name has disappeard, lol. does any one know what it is? It's budding for the first time...there's about 10 umbels!! Leaves are very light green due to it getting some direct sun and very bright light. I've since moved it in hopes of getting the leaves to darken up again...

Thanks!

Can you take a pic of the flower when it opens? I have a few theories, but the leaves are throwing me off, lol! It looked like amoena/pallida at first, but they aren't prominently triplinerved, like a few of your leaves appear to be.

Thing is, Monica, she grows it in full sun (I am so sorry, pugluvr1, if I have mis-identified your gender), and with a pottsii (all the ones I know of, anyway), those leaves should be red or green and red, not light green. I could be wrong, though!

Thanks Monica and Aurora, appreciate it. Its definitely not pottsii that I'm sure of because I have that one and my leaves are different.

I will definitely take a couple of pictures when the bloom opens...in the meantime I'll see if I have an old record I use to keep track of all my hoyas in a notebook, now I just have to find it :o)

I'm Nancy so Aurora you have my gender right :o)

    Thanks again, to be continued...

It looks like h. polystachya to me. The color and size of the buds could match.

Not polystachya, which has huge leaves and rather small flowers.

    convinced :)

Maybe one of the sp sulawesi / tomataensis-complex... flowers will tell us more.

It wouldn't be sulawesii or tomataensis, leaves on those ones redden in pug's conditions.

    ID'ing can be frustrating!

I'm still convinced it is an acuta of some sort!

*NOT my pics...all of my acuta either redden in the sun or have spashes...credit to Irina A. at flowersweb.info:

No problem! It would have bugged me until I found it, lol!

Strangely, I don't have this one, yet! I have the other neo-, though (neocaledonica)!

Hahaha, as soon as I saw the flowers I knew, I have neoebudica but it didn't cross my mind until I saw your flower picture. Glad you got an answer!

It will have the correct label now, thanks to you guys :o)

On a side note, on the acuta photos aurorawa posted, is that rope? As in, the grower tied this sucker down to grow in a hanging basket?

Hmmm. That could be the answer to some of my problem children, especially for aff crassipes.

Pug, what beautiful blooms ! Awesome color, too. Glad you got its name correct. Nice sleuthing there, Aurora !

    Thanks Marco!!

Kim, you can add a sturdy rope or anything you desire to let your hoya hang down like that. To avoid tip die-back make sure the growth tip is never pointed down or pinched due to over-tight tying.

Is it just there as an anchor for the plant to grasp, or do you actually tie them?

You tie them, although like many other hoyas, I am pretty sure acuta will gladly wrap itself up a support, if guided!

Or wrap its way around the room, up the ceiling, and possibly even anex my neighbors house at the rate it has been growing....

Thought I'd share a picture of my H. pachyclada blooms...

Those are nice blooms you got there, Pug ! Pretty light green color, too.
