Finally catching up!

Cold nights, warm, sunny days - good recipe for growth! :D

Things are moving along nicely and only 12 days behind last year.

Marrakech-4th year

Liberty-a 2014 1-eyed model, up to 3 shoots this year

Fire Island, new 2015

A streaked version of Lancifolia. .... just kidding! It was the setting sun's rays that I accidentally captured. Kind of cool, don't you think?

Regal Splendor

Devon Green, new 2015

Dark Shadows

Wide Brim-love all that corrugation this year

Orange Marmalade

June Fever, new late 2015. Sure came up bright! If it grows half as nice as Barb's I will be very happy. :-)

As you can see from the photos, there are many different stages of growth. My new (2015) bare root Touch of Class is so slow (but pipping) that I bought another one, lol.

The blue behind it is 'Moody Blues', also new this year.

Lovely Jo, all of them. Is that Euphorbia myrsinites next to Fire Island? How do you keep it alive over your winter?

I dunno, Denis! Yes. It does the job itself! Lol. I have a few different euphorbias, love them. As far as maintenance goes, after the flowers just start to set seed, I cut stalks back to the base (where new growth is already in progress) to tidy up (reducing it by approx. half) then leave it alone. It stays evergreen under the piles of snow. Tough plant! :-)

Sandy, this is one hosta that just gets better, and better, and better each year. It is not a diva, likes sun and.....you will love it! Some prior seasons...

Did I push you over the edge? ;-)

    "And they're off..."

I've heard those words so often watching various horse races from the UK... and now the phrase is applicable to your runners and riders!

By the way, I don't gamble, but if I was a bookie, I'd make Marrakech the slight favourite closely followed by Orange Marmalade.

It will be interesting to see what happens as they enter the final furlong!

Looks like it will be a competitive race since lots of your horses have great form!

Jerry, I have already scattered slug bait onto the beds, lol. Spring with its renewal always presents our hostas at their best, doesn't it? :D

BC, now that would have been a better thread title.. "And they're off"!

I like your prediction! I'd bet on those! ;-)

Yep, your Marrakech is pretty awesome, Jo. I'd buy one!

THUD! ...That's me falling over and off the edge, jo, lol. I'm planning to go to a local nursery tomorrow. Crossing my fingers they have Marrakech or else there's always mail order. :-)

No wonder you're a hosta addict! Your babies are wonderful! Marrakech will be sold out this season because of that picture.

Marrakech is lovely. Does it stay yellow all season?

Good morning, All! thanks for the compliments - and I do hope Marrakech finds its way into more gardens. It's not the "latest" but the greatest today! ;-)

Hostahosta, it ends up just a bit greener if more shaded but last year it greened up less. I'll look for a late season pic...

Jo, Stunning photo of Fire Island. The rest of them aren't too shabby, either. Enabler on that Marrakech! You're off to a great start.

Cheers Jo, it must just be too wet during the winter here for that particular Euphorbia and it just rots whilst others can be a bit too successful, Different horses for different courses to continue the horsey parlance lol.

Denis, have you tried growing it in a pot?....where you can control how much moisture it gets during winter? just a thought...

Donna, thank you - and....I have a surprise for you ... in the next thread I post. ;-)

That is a good idea Jo however I think I have enough pots to contend with for now and not enough "out of rain" spaces to put them, I might revisit it when the pot count goes down as the larger hostas get planted.

Sounds like a good plan, Denis! Are you pleased with the performance of your in-ground hostas so far? You've got some leaping this year, don't you?

Is that Marrakech in last pick bottom right?? Outstanding.
