It is a form of Salvia involucrata, probably Salvia involucrata 'Bethellii'.

no , it isn't a 'Bethelii' , I grow it too , it isn't the same flower , and this sage blooms very late in season .

I would also say involucrata or hybrid thereof. Perhaps mulberry jam, but the straight species is more likely in my opinion. The OP says that it blooms very late in the year. It's quite lovely.

It does look like Mulberry Jam. I live in CA where it blooms all summer, but may be different elsewhere.
