Eyelash Tinting

Turquoise Rose posted that she can tint her own eyelashes. I was wondering if she'd like to share how or if anyone else does this? I have light lashes and most mascara runs under my eyes from my glistening skin in our Texas sun.

    I use this:

    Roux Lash & Brow Tint

I've used other tint kits, but they've made my eyes burn terribly (which has also happened every time I've had my lashes professionally dyed). The Roux kit does not burn, and I find it very easy to work with - although I do have to be very careful to not let it drip down onto the applicator (I just use Q-tips) where I end up getting it on my fingers and it's a pain to remove. The kit does come with an "ooops" remover, and it works well if I accidentally get the dye on the skin around my eyes as long as I use it immediately.

Anyway, using the Q-tips, I first apply the clear activating liquid (bottle #1) and let it dry for about a minute, then using a clean Q-tip I apply the dye (bottle #2) while looking into a lighted magnifying mirror. Super easy to do. After a few minutes, I either splash my eyes with water or gently wipe with a water-soaked cotton ball to remove any residue.

For me, this is no fuss/no muss (unless I get it on my fingers!), doesn't burn, and is cost-effective. This is definitely a product I'll keep using. I'm able to do a much more thorough job than the professional ever did when I paid $25 (plus tip) to have her dye my lashes, and it's long-lasting too.

TR, are your lashes naturally light? What color do you dye them? Do you also wear mascara?

Thank you so much!! Off to order some now

Thanks TR, how long does the tinting last? Have you done your brows too, and if so, did they look natural but just darkened? Until I started aging (lol) I was a natural strawberry blonde, with eyelashes and brows to match, my head hair has darkened over the past decade but not any other body hair and now the contrast makes my lashes and brows look even lighter. Over this same decade I've been trying to avoid eye makeup (eyes getting dry and don't want so much tugging on the tender skin around my eyes) but I'd really like to tint them and be done with it for a month or three.

The tint will last until the lashes are shed, I do believe, although it fades a bit so I redo it about every 10 days or so. This may sound like a commitment, but it really only takes a couple of minutes. I've not done my brows as they are well enough defined (I don't even like using eyebrow pencil or filler on them to shape them - just makes 'em a bit too dark).

There are 40 applications per box?

There are three bottles per box, and I'm not sure how many applications one is expected to get out of that, but suspect that's about right. I don't use the undereye skin protectors and little sticks that come in the kit -- I tossed those.

Why am I afraid to try this? I wear contacts so I'm used to messing around with my eyes, but dye + eyes kind of freaks me out. TR, there are no ill-effects if any gets in your eye accidentally?
