We are getting quotes on a new wood (cedar) privacy fence. We're not sure what width of pickets to get. One contractor told us to get 5.5"...he said that is the new style, would be the style for a long time, and it is more durable. The other contractor didn't mention the larger width, and only quoted us for 4" pickets.

We live in an 80's neighborbood and most people have the smaller pickets. There is one house that just put in a very nice-looking new fence though, and I'm tempted to go measure their pickets because they look wider to me, haha.

What should I do? The wider width is $2 more a linear foot.
