If your budget is $300k, $31K is about the going rate for the full suite if architectural services in many parts of the country. It's low for the Seattle area.

Start a search process. You will need to call around. Some have suggested the semi retired sole proprietor architect might be willing to work for less than the going rate.

Notable architects with a staff, chic office space, and a healthy Web and social media presence will be working for the customary rate in your area.

Sounds like you need a landscape architect/designer and not a n architect.

I definitely need a landscape architect/designer and when I started this process, I had found a couple in the price range of $1500-$3000 for the outside design. But, because we may be putting an addition on the back of the house and want it to flow with the outdoor kitchen and living area we were advised to hire an architect. Do you think I need both?

We had a very nice home designed by an Atlanta architect for 15k. We did not build the home for various reasons. Is it possible the architect doesn't want the job? Keep shopping.

If you want to add an addition to the house, I think you probably do need both. :)

You have expensive zip code! My house is still in Gwinnett county. But Now I just completed built another home in NC. I know an architect here who is very honest and so kindness person ! was never used him yet but talked few times and he is willing go to Ga to do the job and not expensive. He would tell you everything that needs to be don if he could not. Been there done that !!!
