Thank you I am so excited. I have retired from the lunch lady program and pray this is my new niche since I love it so much. I had an offer I can't refuse this week to set up in front of or in a lady's building in town for free on main street. So now I have 3 places to set up which, when harvest season gets into full swing will be ideal for me. I won't have to try to hold any produce through the week.

Kim, I saw a lot of ugly weather in west Texas on the radar last night. I hope it missed you and your garden.

Thank you Dawn, it was bad...but I didn't know it until it was over. Thankfully it didn't come near me or the garden. But just east of us about 8 miles a tornado touched down took out trees roof etc. No one was hurt thankfully.

I'm glad the tornado was 8 miles away. Now, why didn't you know? The wrong time to learn a tornado is about to hit you is when it hits you! I hope you have a NOAA All Hazards Radio or at least a phone app that alerts you. We have both, and if there is imminent danger, our fire radio alert sounds as well. Some nights it really interferes with getting a good night's sleep, but I'd rather be awakened by the radio than by a tornado hitting the house without warning.

The Weather Channel had some incredibly videos and photos on the air today, shot by folks from Texas to the Dakotas, as many tornadoes, rotating supercells and other weather phenomenon were captured on film. It was an incredible weather night last evening. Tonight seems tame by comparison, and that's probably a good thing.

We have a flood warning for the Red River as it is expected to rise above flood stage for either the second or third time this year before the end of this week. I'd never have believed we'd have two flooding springs back to back.

I do not have TV or radio. I could put an app on my phone I will get my son to do that.

The sign is great and I admire what you're doing. The first time I heard the term food desert was in an article that featured Turkey and Quitaque as examples (Crosbyton, Ralls and Floydada aren't much better). I know your community will appreciate what you are doing.

Tonight's supercell along the Caprock was as spectacular and dangerous looking as I've ever seen. It passed about eight miles to the east of here as well. Yesterday's storms were pretty ugly- heavy small, sharp, wind driven hail followed by lesser amounts of bigger hail dropping right straight down. Most of the garden damage is relatively minor. The recently emerged beans, leafy greens, and onions took the brunt of it. The tomatoes under row cover were unscathed. But my apples are probably a total loss, every thumb-sized apple has multiple hail dents and bruises. Fortunately, there is an organic apple orchard less than thirty miles away and so far no hail there, yet

The rain has been very good, though.

Will try to catch you at the Lubbock Farmer's market this summer. I try to get there a couple of times over the season.

Kim, Apps are easy. I am not at all tech savvy but have a son who is, so when I need something he finds it for me and either downloads it or shows me how. There's tons of great weather apps out there, and lots of them send you warnings.

Just yesterday, even though I kept saying "No" and declining the installation of Windows 10 (for months and months), it abruptly started downloading onto my laptop while I was typing a response here on GardenWeb.

To make a long story short, I immediately shut down the computer and sent Chris (who was at work early, around 5 a.m., to work out in the gym before his shift started) a text. He told me what to do to foil Microsoft's efforts to shove Windows 10 down my throat, and sent me a link to a website that had a program to block the unwanted downloading of Windows 10 and to uninstall what they already had done, and then how to permanently block it. I followed the directions on the website and it worked! If I am not going to put up with an unwanted pest or weed in my garden, I certainly am not going to put up with a computer company trying to download an unwanted program onto my computer. And, without a tech savvy son, I probably would have been stuck with Windows 10 because I wouldn't have know what to do.

Congrats, Kim! I expect you will sell out every day that you go to market. There is a huge demand for fresh, locally-grown produce, as you just discovered.

I was afraid I was charging too much but locally grown picked rinsed and brought to market in hours gets a good price. Only 1 person seemed to balk at the price. Then I started thinking maybe I am not charging enough. Lol. Allsups is my only competition in Silverton so it's easy market. Now when I go to Lubbock it'll be different.
