I love box spring covers; not a fan of bed skirts. Look at RH box spring covers. They seem to have a number of different gray/charcoals. I think white with a charcoal headboard might look odd, like a box spring itself. White, to me, works with white bedding, a white frame, etc., but I'd probably go for a pale gray or a charcoal that is the same as the headboard if I had a charcoal headboard.

I think gray would look good with your headboard. I"m just amazed that they have box spring covers! I had no idea and have always used a fitted sheet on mine.

Thanks! Tib, the one from RH is exactly what I'm looking at buying. I've checked them out everywhere and this is the one I like best, not to mention that it's on sale right now, which helps. I was wondering if white would load like a white box spring and you confirmed that. I think you're both right that a grey or charcoal will look better. I appreciate the help.
