This plant came to me as a one node cutting, and did well under my fluorescent grow light. I repotted and moved it to a window with good light, where it decided to stop growing.

Bah.

No actual questions here, I am sure it is busy growing roots and waiting for the sunny weather to come back. Just impatient to see it grow up and grace me with those tomato colored blooms.

In the meantime, if you grow this please post pictures of your plant and flowers to tide over my cravings until mine decides to behave again. ;-)

Yours is so nice! Mine has maybe 5 or 6 leaves right now. Hey, not bad for a single node cutting rooted in November in my often cloudy state. I am sure it will put on good growth for me once the warm weather returns. Such a gorgeous plant, even as small as mine is I am ecstatic to have it. How tall is the hoop you have yours on?

Kim, it sticks out of the pot 12" exactly, plus what is pushed down into the pot, so about 14". It is the standard Gardino's hoop that they send with their 4" pot full grown plants. This is the only hoop I own. All mine are climbing a trellis or each other. Only my Rope, cv. Sunrise and a large KQ are hanging. Oh, and my heirloom carnosa hangs also. Thanks for the compliment.

Thanks for the info, I have not *yet* ordered from Gardinos myself. I have 2" hoops on my climbing types, I am considering replacing them with 12" so I can sneak in more plants. Seems like 12" is enough to accomadate a good sized specimen of most species anyways!

Kim, one nice thing I am finding out about this Hoya, it LOVES to spring new vines at will from lower nodes. Also, the leaves knock off very easy but I am finding that to be a blessing. It grows a "bow" of leaves there and starts a new vine from that spot, too. Sometime a vine will look like it is really taking off only to stop about 4 nodes away and make a hard knuckle that grows 3 prongs (peduncles maybe?). It bushes out nicely and does not like to "twine" around the trellis at all. It needs clips or twisty ties. That makes it very trainable, too.

Nice Kim ! When summer finally kicks in for you guys up there, this lil baby of yours will take off ! It is a very quick grower for me and that cutting of yours is large enough to fill out good during the nicer weather. Good luck and show us again when it hits a growth spurt !

Pug, from what I have heard and read, this can bloom in 6 months or so from a cutting. So your "couple of small cuttings" will grow out nicely here in Florida. They claim it's an early bloomer. When ever I mention this plant to anyone that sells them or has them, the first thing they ask me is, "did it bloom for you yet?" So, in this Florida weather, it is thriving. New growth is much larger and longer when grown full to partial sun. Mine is getting the setting western sun, full on for 2 hours in the afternoon. Loves sunlight and is thirsty. Mine has set a few prongs that look like peduncles so you should be all set.

Blooms inside 6 months, wow! My baby came to me as a single node, about the same time I got some shepherdii cuttings that are already budding. Might just see some blooms before the summer is out on ilagiorum then.

I will take more photos as it grows and post here, could be neat to show the growth rate of the plant. Now if the sun would just come back!

Thanks for the positive feedback on this plant...Fingers crossed it roots and then blooms, hopefully :o)

Puglvr, you should post progress pics here as well. I am always curious about growth rate when I get a new plant, and it will be fun to see and compare!

    Will do!
