Perhaps you will get other responses if you post on the conifer forum or the trees and shrubs forum. I know Ken grows dwarf conifers and he is active on the perennial forum.

I have three Yew that has been growing for 10 years and only about 2-3 feet. If you want them you can have them.

Dwarf Boxwood has been a very slow grower in my garden and it is easy to find at most garden centers.

littlefairy100. Thanks for the offer. The site is in full sun about 80% of the day and the yews generally like partial shade or do I have that wrong.

You are right. They can tolerate shade and supposed to be out of harsh sun. I have them on the north side of the house foundation, so they are doing pretty well. They are really slow growing though.

FYI, yews are one of the most shade tolerant of conifers but they are perfectly happy in full sun - no concerns about that at all!! And they take pruning or shearing extremely well compared to any other sort of needled evergreen, however the low growing or spreading type seldom require it.
