Happy Pink Silver

Hi everyone,

Pink Silver's enjoying her vacation outdoors. Look at all that red! Now, if only we could get some more sun to further feature this color.

For the moment, the rain has stopped. It's still a little cloudy, though. There's a chance of rain until Tuesday *sigh*. At least, my plants haven't been able to dry out too much (the ones outside, anyway).

So beautiful! That red leaf is stunning. Almost looks like an RHP!

klnco444, Odd that you should mention that, because this and my one RHP came from tawny last fall :). The RHP doesn't have the coloring (yet) like PS does. I think I've fallen in love with PS all over again! :)

Beautiful Brad. Do you have her in direct sun?

Yes I do, Monica. She gets direct sun from early afternoon until sunset, along with RHP. The way I have my plants hanging up/displayed outside under the little wooden porch, those two get the most direct sun. Some other Hoyas and plants get some sun, but not for long since they're closer to the house.

This is the RHP I just ordered from Jan in Florida on eBay. Can't tell if she keeps it in full sun or a greenhouse. Either way those leaves are lime green and the little pink new growth is adorable <3

It is adorable! I remember GreedyGhost saying once that the more light a Hoya has, the leaves will be a grassy green color. Which is pretty close, if not exactly, to the color of your leaves. ;)

I think Jan keeps hers outside, maybe has a shadehouse. I have drooled over her photos enough, lol. I am convinced her garden is a magical fairy realm, frequented by unicorns. Most of my cuttings from her come complete with that Florida sunkiss look.

Mine tend to be dark green... not nearly enough sun on dreary Washington. I probably will move some plants out to a shady spot with morning sun at some point, still fearful of unscrupulous passersby and as such am very hesitant.

I nearly fried the first plant I got from Jan, I figured it would want full sun coming from Florida and after the first day all the red on the leaves had turned a dark brown. Ended up moving it to a South East window where it gets a lot of morning sun, instead of an entire days worth. The red came back thank goodness.

Btw, the mother plant is a MONSTER.

Isn't it funny how H. Pubicalyxs turn red in the sun but my Carnosa totally looses its color (it gets very pale green to almost a yellowish)

Monica, put a little Epsom salt in your watering can. They help the leaves stay green :). Pale green isn't a bad thing, since that amount of light means it's perfect for your plant to produce flowers.
