15 years? Wow! How tall is it now?

Oh wow - I'm glad I'm not the only one. Had one at my previous home for 10 years and though it had glorious foliage, it never bloomed. Planted one here at my next house 4 years ago - great growth and foliage but no blooms - not holding my breath.

Same here..11 years & no blooms..

I'm pretty sure mine took at least 8 years to bloom. At least.

You're so patient! I, too, waited; and then when it **finally** bloomed, a swarm of Japanese beetles came and literally ate every leaf...

Where are you? I just invested in 9 climbing hydrangeas for my backyard and am hoping it will only take 3 years for blooming.

Miracx, I don't think that 3 years is realistic. I don't know of anyone whose took less than 5 years, and mine took 6 I think. To my mind they are worth waiting for, but not everyone has the patience. Also, I hope you have a huge yard since they can get to 40 feet.

I have an urban backyard so no, not huge...but plan called for 9 beside fences and 2 pergolas. I love the flowers but I'm ok with just foliage....hydrangeas thrive in my area and soil and my design plan relies on them heavily:)

Jeanette, if you're still reading your thread, may I ask how tall is your plant?

Some have reported that milorganite helps climbing hydrangea bloom. Personally I have no interest in the plant because I'm continuously fighting wild grape vines that have killed a bunch of mature trees behind my house.

springwood, hydrangeas don't twine like grape vines. They attach via aerial rootlets hitched into nooks and crannies. They don't hurt trees IME, and I have seen several grown into large trees.

Plant in picture looks like a 'Moonlight' Schizophragma to me.
