It has mostly been divine outside while we work! I'm struggling to get all the sweaty brow work complete before the heat arrives.

It had been divine here too, and then the sunshine returned and brought the heat and some fairly unpleasant relative humidity. And, that lasted only a day or two.

We are back to cooler and milder today, and definitely much muddier after 1.5" of rain fell around 4 a.m. I don't know how long the cool and mild part will last.

I don't mind wet weather as long as we aren't getting hail, tornadoes, derecho winds, or microbursts. The problem this week is that both large hail and tornadoes will be a possibility at various times. As soon as the lightning was far away for it to be safe to go outdoors this morning, I took care of all the poultry and harvested tomatoes, and then made it back indoors as severe storms began firing up just to our north. We didn't get more rain here, but 3 counties near us had strong winds, more rain and hail. It would be okay with me if we don't get any more rain today, but I bet we will. We have had some awfully ugly clouds at times this morning.

My peppers and tomato plants are only just now perking up beyond seedling stage. We've been too cool. I may need to shade them to help when the blazing sun arrives.

The indepth zoning where I live is right on the line of 7b/6a and it shows! Never know what we're going to get. Sometimes I'm only a week lagging behind S Oklahoma and sometimes we're 4 weeks behind S Oklahoma, but more similar to N Oklahoma.

It got a little loud last night but only a little rain, less that 1/4" inch. We will see what the rest of the week brings.

It is another dark and stormy night here. I am really enjoying the rain especially since I have rain barrels set up. Not impressed with high winds and all but as long as camper stays put I am ok-plants are ok

Yall have had them all over the place the last couple of days. Glad those missed you.

One of the scariest days of my life was when I was already in the tornado shelter under a Tornado Warning and Chris sent me a storm chaser map showing a storm chaser on our road and not at all far from our house, one on the next closest east-west road and then another 2 on the very next road after that. With that many storm chasers that close.....well, I wondered how close the tornado was. And, actually, it turned out it was in Texas and crossed the river near us, skipped through a field and didn't do any real damage, then rose up in the air and flew over the county without touching down again and kept on going. It's just never a good thing to have storm chasers hanging out near your house.

Well it's a little better to have them around than not to have any warning. The one that hit us a few years back was only an EF-1, but we didn't have any "take cover" warning. I looked out the window and it was raining at the house across the street and not at our house. I told Al to come look because it was so strange. About the time he got to the window, the rain hit our windows with force and looked like it was coming sideways. We were a few feet from a shelter and would have been in it if we had known there was a chance of a tornado.

That was too close! Coming home from work Bill was pulled over as the stormchasers (or something) were in the way filming storm clouds near Oilton. Those were not storm clouds !!! At that time the kids and I were in the cellar as there was a rotating ominous cloud very close by the house as well.

NO SIRENS!! At first I was mad, but the truth is it's been so very long since I've lived without advanced warning systems and I'm so very very grateful for those advanced warning system. Someone in Cushing needs to be reprimanded. They usually are trigger happy with the sirens which, in my opinion, is crucial. So, I was very surprised to no see a massive black swirling cloud less than 1/2 mile from the house and even some fast-moving rotating clouds about the house but there was no siren! We hit the cellar fast and scared the living daylights out of the pets in the process. All clear now after that hail storm.

Bill's truck looks as if someone took a ball ping hammer to it.

I hope everyone in the storm's path chimes in. I know the storm is in Creek Co. and it didn't seem to be losing steam.

Bon, I was thinking of y'all when the first (and, later, the second) tornado warning came out for Payne County and was hoping everyone was in a safe place. I'm glad you all are okay, but I think Bill and his truck have had enough excitement for one day. Sirens are odd things. It is surprising to me how often they are not sounded, or how they are sounded for hail but then inexplicably don't go off for tornadoes. The time to have mechanical problems is NOT when a tornado is bearing down on a town. And, of course, every now and then a tornado materializes so quickly that the folks closest to it don't get a warning....or, by the time they do, they're already in the shelter, the cellar or hiding in the bathroom or an interior closet. We are too far to hear our local siren (it is at the fire station and we have to send a human being to the station to manually turn it on, anyhow), but we have a NOAA Weather Radio upstairs and another one downstairs, and phone apps....and fire pager radios. If a tornado is ever going to sneak up on us, it will have to materialize right above our house out of thin air.

Amy, I hope those storms head where they're supposed to, and miss you, but I feel bad for everyone in the path.

Y'all just have to laugh with me. Chris came home from work this morning bound and determined to go storm chasing and I was not happy. Off he headed towards NW OK where he expected, after careful study, that the tornadoes were most likely to pop up. He was delighted to find himself in Woodward with a bunch of storm chasers, and with the guys from The Weather Channel. And, I have been delighted to see nothing popping up near him so far. I have kept him posted on the NE OK storms, and I am pretty sure he's sorry he's on the wrong side of the state. I'm not sorry, and they may yet get something to chase in NW OK, but if they don't, that's fine with me.

Everybody stay safe and remember that Thursday-Friday look potentially dangerous as well.

We keep missing the rain. Just light showers. I feel for everyone that is dodging the severe weather. I bet the storm chasers are about chased out.

i have no idea what Thursday and friday and even first of next week will bring??? We usually get rain during Memorial Day weekend at some point.

Tim and I watched The Weather Channel's live coverage of the Dodge City, KS, tornadoes and it was crazy. One supercell put down 6-8 different tornadoes.

We've already had rain twice this week, and more is expected Thursday and Friday. I'm not going to complain, though, because some years the rain just shuts off and stops falling when summer arrives, so we've got to get whatever rain we can get while it is falling from the sky.

I think we got pretty lucky in Oklahoma today even though we had some tornadoes, some strong winds and some hail. It certainly could have been a lot worse.

I've had 2 1/4 inches the last 2 days. Dodged the bullet twice last night for storms with hail. Sadly the places that got hit late afternoon yesterday got hit again late last night. Hope everyone is ok.

We've had two inches so far this week and the forecast shows much more. Our May rainfall had been poor, but between last week's rain and this week's rain, we're almost up to our average May rainfall now. I expect we will exceed it.
