Rose from the last week

Here are some of my favorite roses from the last week - enjoy!

Perfume Delight keeps putting out more and more buds.

Abbaye de Cluny is also churning out new growth constantly!

Grande Dame is growing next to the south facing side of my home. She's already at 6 ft tall and it's only May. Typically our weather goes from winter to summer with little transition. This year, we seem to be having a true spring and the roses love it!

I planted Neptune earlier this year and it looks like it's going to be a prolific bloomer. Love the fragrance!

This is the fourth spring for Betty White. Usually she gets 10 blooms in the first flush. This year I've had about 30+ blooms and she keeps producing more buds.

The Poet's Wife - my first bloom! She's about 2 ft tall after only 4 months in the ground and is covered with buds. I think I'm going to really like this rose, especially the fragrance.

Charles Rennie Macintosh - another new rose that's only been in the ground for four months and is growing quickly and putting out blooms. Love the lilac color!

William Shakespeare 2000 was relocated and had a hard time adjusting. He's ok now and seems to have a much improved form in his third year (no octopus canes) I've noticed the same with PAOK who looks like a naturally well mannered shrub. Last year, she had a lot of those unruly semi-horizontal canes. Sometimes patience pays off!

Brother Cadfael's fragrant blooms keep perfuming my yard! The thornless canes very gracefully support these large bloom clusters. I enjoy walking up to these clusters and taking a deep breath of fragrance.

Hope you enjoyed the photos!

Amazing collection of pinks you have there. And then there is Bro. Cadfael--what a bloom!

And a lovely yellow trying to hide in the middle of the pink collection. I've been wondering how Poet's Wife would look in a garden--that is very promising. Tell us more about it as the season progresses--BS resistant? heat tolerant? good re-bloomers? I'm keeping an eye on that one.

Your Betty White looks fabulous!!! I love this rose - except it is bothered by thrips. But I'm going to try the blue cup method. How in the world did you get yours to look so 'thrips free?"

Your Perfume Delight looks magical!! Stunning!

I could say something fabulous about each and every rose you showcase. THEY ARE GORGEOUS!!! :)

I'll sign off, then go up and look again!

Oh my gosh! I'm sorry I missed these earlier this week. Really impressive. Ditto what Carol said... they're all so good. Wow.

Ah, I love Betty White. She is now on my short to buy list. She's been on the long list for a while but your beautiful picture just let her cut in line. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Carol, Towandaaz, and Beth -- Thanks for your kind comments!

Carol - The thrip problem diminishes quite a bit when it stops raining which is the only reason BW is thrip-free at the moment. Not sure what the blue cup method is but I'll look it up. Thrips seem to love Pope John Paul II even more than Betty White so I don't have a decent photo of PJPII so far this spring.

Ann - the thrip method was mentioned by fragrancenutter. You take a blue plastic cup, could it with oil, place it by the rose - and the thrips gravitate to the cups and get stuck. Yes, look it up - it seems wonderful. I bought some cups, but I have no blooms yet...so I'm going to wait.

I went up for another look....unbelievable!!
