I know onion seed does not keep well and I found some I had overlooked so I put them in a planter to see what happens, I know it's a bit late. I plan to transplant into the garden once they are large enough. First time with these guys, so a few questions: Will they begin dividing this summer? Will they go dormant this summer and resprout in the fall? Most onions grow right through our winters, and I expect these will based on what I've read about them. What can I expect?

i direct seeded some Green Mtns form Renaissance Seeds in February of '15, had to move them to a planter, they went dormant and I replanted the small bulbs in the fall of '15. Had to move some of them again, and they transplanted well, but the transplants are much smaller with fewer divisions and just beginning to put up small seed pods. The non transplanted ones are huge and it looks like every division has a seed head. The stalks are an inch thick at ground level. I am definitely saving the bulbs from this one to clone this fall and they will go someplace so they won't be moved (I'm a good planner, just not good at following the plan). The pic is from May 8 and the seed heads are 3' tall now with 8-9 divisions.
