I purchased two Hydrangeas yesterday, and I need some advice on where to plant them. I am having second thoughts on the location I was originally considering, and have some questions:

The spot is directly beside a fence and our patio. The patio is made of concrete pavers, could the root spread cause issues or shifting of our pavers over time?

A couple of years ago we had to install a drainage tile along the fence due to heavy moisture in our backyard draining from the lot behind us. My concern is again, the root system interfering with the drainage tile. How deep does a hydrangea send its roots?

Does anyone have any suggestions on what kind of flowing shrub would be better suited for this location?
