Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum, so I don't really know how it works. No one responded to my question...It's ok. I suppose we just need to get used to unlabeled varieties. I saw a bunch at a local nursery today with no labels at all. I was just wondering if anyone knew how big a hahnii could get. I'm most interested in dwarf sans, and I'm looking for the smallest variety available.

I also helped my mother-in-law repot the mother plant today. I got five new plants from this, not counting the connected pups. She keeps hers in a sound window, but the room has east and west windows too. It just went crazy since we repotted last year and had a bunch of pups coming up as well.

I don't have any place in my house with that many windows. I was wondering what window people have had the most luck with? Right now all of my sans are in a west window, but I could move them somewhere else. The only side that doesn't have a window is the north on my house.

I really want mine to set out some pups, but they are growing soooo slowly in the current position.

Hi Linguist! Welcome to this forum.

It's hard to tell from a far away shot like you took but based on the size of the leaf, I would say it is a hahnii. West sunlight is great. I keep my Sans in South and West windows in the winter. A few even in North. The most important thing I've learned about Sans in this forum is the potting medium. High drainage is most important. I've killed more than one plant by keeping it unknowingly too wet due to the potting medium.

Don't worry about your slow growing plant. I think Sans should be nicknamed "patience plant" because most grow extremely slow. I have some that put up only one growth per year. Some none! Don't get frustrated. Accept this is how it is. Lol. This way when it does push new growth, it's time to celebrate!

Welcome Linguist. I did see some regular hahnii that was stacking and was 4 feet tall. Leaves about the same as yours. It is well grown.

Thanks for the replies. I'm slowly building my collection, but I was never much interested in sans until I saw that my mother-in-law's plant was shorter than many others I had seen. A little bit of research into identifying hers opened up a whole new world for me, and started my collection of almost exclusively dwarf sans. I'm thinking about getting a kirkii, but not sure what color I would like. I am mostly relying on online orders because I live in the Midwest, but I have found some nice plants locally recently.

Miss, Come fall or early spring, we have plant give a ways. so you could wait and see what's available.

Linguist, for me, the dwarf varieties seem to be the hardest to find and grow. It's great you can find them locally. I do a dance when I find them at all. It wouldnt hurt to expand your collection horizon. There are so many cool varieties!

If you hold the plant you're asking about up to the light, does it have a stripe down the center of the leaf?

I'm asking because the top picture looks that way to me but it could just be my tablet.

Mine doesn't have any lines in the center. I do have a bunch of other types of hahniis though. Most are unlabeled or I labeled them myself (so I'm not sure the labels are 100% correct). I have a golden hahnii like in your pic akrrm. I almost killed it, but then I put it in the same pot as a jade marginated, and it perked up.
