I think I went from French country style to eclectic style, lol.

It's eclectic, but that style can still feel modern and coordinated (usually) in some strange way. I really hope this helps...but the room just feels old fashioned now with pieces that are not connected. There are many inspiration pictures on line - search Pinterest for eclectic rooms. Edit, take your time - this look is not easy to achieve and if not experienced, there can be lots of hits and misses. You can still go back to a modern French county, which will be easier if you prefer that look and it is closer to what you were trying to achieve originally? The mirror can work there if you get the right combination going in the room (see 2nd picture on how it all works together). Good luck.

IMHO, the mirror is a gorgeous piece, but is overwhelming where you have it. Do you have another place you can use it? An oil painting that runs horizontally--think floral or traditional portrait--would be a better choice. This is a pretty room, though. You're on the right track!

I'm glad... it's easier to have a big picture and then go slow to find the right combinations. Maybe work with what you had originally and just tweak, as that may be easier and probably closer to what you originally seemed to have in mind. All the best.

The mirror is beautiful, I don't think that over the sofa does it any justice. I think what I'm not liking is the dark frame of the mirror above the light colored sofa. If your sofa were equally as dramatic, say emerald green velvet, I think it would work beautifully. So in a nut shell, I would suggest, either change the mirror or change the sofa. If that isn't an option, What about a dramatic throw over the back of the sofa?

I switched things around, I haven't decided what art should be over the sofa , but for now I found this other mirror, it feels better in this place since I have another piece same color here. What do you think. Thank you everyone for helping me in this dilemma.

Gloria, what you have put over the couch looks better. Make sure everything is very secure so it can't fall if someone plops onto the couch heavily.

How about a pillow or two on the sofa with some dark color or dark fringe to tie the mirror to the sofa...or, could the mirror be a bit lower, closer to the sofa?

Eclectic is what you end up with when you collect and keep things you like. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Yes, I like the addition of the dark color in the pillows. Good job. Eventually, a touch of black in the pillows would be nice, as well as a touch of black other places in the room. I still wonder if the mirror would be better a few inches lower....??? I like this room. It has character.

IMO the first image of your space looked beautiful! Now it is boring..it had such an eclectic exciting look...I would put it all back and add some more black to the space..rustic wood lamps with black lamp shades..pillows with a casual linen feel..I would not add plates on wall in a living room...I think more eclectic art with rust wood frames.

I will put it all back in winter time, for summer I like neutral, light colors.

Replace the console table (super modern) under the TV with a closed cabinet that can be more casual and at the same time hide some of the components.

You would be creating a more interesting space by using art over the sofa instead of another mirror. Everything needs to be hung about 12 inches lower,

I agree with Home Interiors; the room was way more interesting before. But if you're going to keep the mirror and sconces and plates you have now, the whole arrangement has to come down a good 8 inches. It should be 5 -8" over the couch.

You're doing great - but let's tweak the room & get size and scale to balance out better.

Plates & sconces gotta go... way too busy visually. Plates better in dining room or kitchen.

Go back to your original layout - love the hide rug - it adds drama & some black thats in your mirror frame. Now add a big-n-tall palm tree in the corner to balance the height of your mirror. There are great permanent botanicals around these days if you're afraid a real palm tree won't survive. Make sure its planted in a big gorgeous pot - black preferably.

You need tall oversized lamps similar to Maureen's photo (thank you Maureen) but have black shades or tan shades with black trim on top & bottom. Notice on Maureen's photo that the lamp base colour closely matches the mirror frame.

Take everything away that's under the window. Black semi-sheer linen drapery side panels would again add drama & tall blocks of height to balance the mirror. (Thanks Home Interiors with Ease for the photos! LOVE the Roman Numerals on the wall too!)

Let's see some more photos of your room after trying some of these ideas. We can tweak accessories once the main items look pleasing, How does that sound?

You have taken away the rug, I too loved your first pic before it all changed, loved the mirror, if you just added a bit more of that look in a coffee table or lamps it would have balanced the look. A few pillows and a throw and some soft sheer linen curtains it would all be honkydorry

Some beautiful suggestions for tables and lamps in Ideahound's pictures, but please, no primary colored modern art in this sophisticated space! You'd lose the sense of elegance that you have started.

Full height drapes across the whole window wall would make a big differences. Keep the art large, but calm.

I think adding gold will NOT make the space more casual..as requested in post..I think adding wood and black pieces would be beautiful and add an eclectic feel.

You have a lot of small pieces so I feel like you need something large to balance out the space...I would also stick with something that is enclosed rather than open shelves.

No yet, thank you for checking in me. I just ordered another zebra rug, because my kids , didn't like it when I used a real zebra rug, so this time I ordered a cowhide zebra rug. I will let you know once my space is ready. Thank you!!!!!

This is going to be the new rug, of course the real one was better, but my kids love animals. They don't want to see that zebra in my living room.
