OMG....LOVE IT!!! scent?

Hi Roxanne!! It has a sweet fragrance that is wonderful. I just went outside and it seems to be even more so right now. I'm Sure it will be more intense as the evening approaches due to Mother Nature making the blooms more appealing to the natural pollinators!! I'm really happy with this one!! It's been 3-4 years and this is the first blooming cycle . Both branches have inflos!! ;-)

Rwallytx.. I bought this little tree four or five years ago from Matt who sells his trees on EBay under the name of One Stop Aloha. He has many beautiful varieties and is very trustworthy!!! He is also on FB under Oahu Tropicals.

Hi Mark!! This was last years bloom during the beginning of summer and it had two inflos which gave me many months of beautiful blooms. I'll see if I have a darker more rich yellow since it had more heat to make that coloration change in the yard.

Once I saw inflos developing inside the house where I keep my special varieties, I placed it in the greenhouse to help the inflo develop during the early months. ( March) I know it takes heat and humidity to make the nice deep colors so I wanted to proceed with caution and not cause anything to abort the inflo. It stayed in the greenhouse until April and it was placed outside and developed.

This might answer your questions on this J L Dane ( Jim Little Dane)

Dane JL not Thai Dane, very similar to Taj Majal. Yellow with red pointed layered edges sometimes 6 to 7 petals. Named after JL's grandson. The
flowers are extraordinary - a deep gold in the center that goes through the petals, green veining when it first opens and changes to a vibrant red. Each
petal curls inward to form a pointed tip. Upright growth habit with beautiful, full heads and a light sweet papaya fragrance. Must have heat to bloom
correctly. Named after JL's grandson. Very fast growing. Needs heat to bring out colors. Heat lover. 2.5-3.5”. Tips of petals fold inwards. Golden yellow
with dark gold center. Tips are dark pink almost red and the edges and back are the same color. Needs heat. Performs best in cooler weather. Sweet
scent. Excellent keeping quality. Medium to fast grower and an easy rooter. 2 1/2 ", not hard to grow. Big bouquet and very fragrant. Poor branching,
needs to grow 4’. Leggy. Sets seed.

Price varies on the variety.. I can't remember the exact amount that I paid. It wasn't under lets say 50 dollars and if I can recall..it was on a bidding session with Matt's EBay sight. I think you could find one rooted for under 100. I don't like to really discuss prices because some are very expensive to some and others will pay a certain price in order to acquire " a certain variety" to add to their collection. I know you must be loving this one, but it all depends if you want to invest in certain cultivars..

Very nice Laura. This one gave an early start to the season for you.

I agree prices are what they are and eventually supply will help drive the price down. I guess the question to ask is how much will someone enjoy it if bought at Price A today versus waiting X amount of time to buy at Price B. No Wrong answer IMO. One recommendation would be if someone intends to spend bigger money then buy from the cultivar's source or known distributor of the grower/source.

I got my eye on a couple of Jim little plumerias but that JL Dane is very unique. I hope to maybe get one this summer. I'm kinda seeing what these usually sell for but obviously it won't be cheap.
