Hello, I need some ideas/advice on what material to use to extend my patio. Currently our patio is made from the large stone foundation our pre 1860 barn sat upon. When we disassembled the barn, moved it then reassembled in current location we decided to haul all the stones we could and use them for our patio. Worked well for ten years but we would like to expand so we have some room for a table, chairs and grill. I would like to expand out to the left, if you look at the photos. The issues are there is a slight slope from patio to grass in the direction I want to expand. Also, we will never find stones like this so what type of material could I use that would go well with the current patio. My initial thoughts are to construct a border a few feet away from the current patio and fill it with pea stones. Then the table, chairs, grill could sit there. Then fill the space between the patios with plantings and such, leaving a small walkway to connect the patios. Any other ideas out there would be appreciated. Have a wonderful holiday weekend!
